What does it mean to be licensed & insured?

Posted on: October 21, 2016

When hiring an HVAC company, you need peace of mind that you are choosing the right one. Many companies claim to be “licensed and insured,” but James A. Wheat & Sons takes licensure to the ultimate level. With six different licensures and full insurance, James A. Wheat & Sons is the logical choice for your HVAC and plumbing needs.

The importance of licensure and insurance

When it comes to investing in your home, you want to know that the individual you hire has the right skills and training. Licensure provides that peace of mind, because in order to attain licensure, a contractor has to prove knowledge through rigorous testing.

Insurance is just as important for your protection. When you are investing thousands in your home, you want to know that you are fully protected if something unexpected happens. James A. Wheat & Sons requires our technicians to carry insurance, so you and they are both fully protected.

Licensure held by our technicians

Here are the types of licensure we have:

  • WSSC Plumbing and Gas — James A. Wheat & Sons holds Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) licensure for plumbing and gas.
  • MD HVAC — Our technicians are licensed by the state of Maryland to operate on HVAC systems throughout the state.
  • DC Plumbing and Gas – In addition to WSSC licensure, we also hold licensure for plumbing and gas throughout Washington, D.C.
  • DC HVAC – Our licensure for HVAC work extends into Washington, D.C.
  • MD Plumbing and Gas – We are licensed for plumbing and gas work in the state of Maryland.
  • MD Home Improvement – Our contractors also carry licensure through the Maryland Home Improvement Commission.
