You may already know this, but in our area, heat pumps are some of the most energy efficient types of heating and cooling systems around. However, you lose a lot of that efficiency if your ducts aren’t properly sealed and insulated! The Hanways in Bethesda, MD learned this the hard way…that’s why they called James A. Wheat & Sons!
The first thing we did was remove the old insulation from around their ductwork. Next, our friends at Foam InSEALators of Baltimore helped us apply spray foam insulation (Polymethylene PolyphenyleneIsocynate, if anyone was wondering) to seal and insulate the ducts and the roofline.
Before and After
We then upgraded their heat pump with a more efficient model and replaced the ductwork with metal trunk lines.
Their new system works great! If you live in Bethesda or anywhere else in the Maryland or Washington, DC area and you’ve been thinking about upgrading your heat pump, or if you want to get more out of your existing heat pump by sealing up your leaky ducts, call James A. Wheat & Sons today!
